Congratulations to Wales YFC Chairman Dafydd Jones who raised £40,256.24 for Wales Air Ambulance when he rounded off his year in office travelling through the country in a Massey Ferguson tractor.
The three-day journey was made in the lead-up to the Wales YFC’s AGM weekend in Aberystwyth where he made his final appearance as Chairman.
Daffyd began his expedition from his home county of Meirionnydd before heading north to Eryri, Ynys Môn and Clwyd and then through Montgomery, Radnor, Brecknock, Gwent, Glamorgan Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, landing in Ceredigion on 13 September.
The tractor was loaned by Massey Ferguson through dealer Brodyr Evans, underlining the continuing close relationship between the company and Wales YFC. As well as meeting up with Wales YFC members en route, Daffyd called in at several MF dealers including Emyr Evans in Gaerwen, RVW Pugh, Churchstoke and Brodyr Evans Bros in Llanrhystud who all handed over cheques to add to his fund-raising.
Daffyd joined the YFC at his local club of Bryncrug. In 2016, he won Wales YFC Senior Member of the Year Competition and then went on to develop his work with the organisation becoming Wales YFC Rural Affairs Committee Chairman and finally Wales YFC Chairman last September.
“The adventure around Wales in the MF tractor was a successful end to the great year I’ve had as Wales YFC Chairman,” says Dafydd. “It was good to meet MF dealers and, of course, YFC members who really are the foundation of our organisation and its success.”
Lindsay Haddon, Massey Ferguson Advertising and Sales Promotion Manager added: “It’s been a pleasure working with Dafydd over the last year and we are thrilled that he chose to make his swansong journey as Chairman in an MF tractor. He’s done a super job in spearheading Wales YFC’s mission to support and inspire rural youth and we look forward to continuing our successful partnership.”
