Massey Ferguson backs Ireland Club at Harper Adams University

Massey Ferguson, a worldwide brand of AGCO (NYSE:AGCO), is providing sponsorship for one of the leading societies at Shropshire-based Harper Adams University which specialises in land-based studies.

The farm machinery firm is supporting Harper Ireland, one of the University’s most popular societies with nearly 150 members. Harper Ireland provides a social focus for Irish students and offers practical help to enable them to assimilate to living so far away from home. The club organises and hosts the annual Paddy’s Ball, a major date in the University calendar.

Massey Ferguson’s famous ‘Triple Triangle’ logo will appear on all Harper Ireland clothing and the company is to support the club’s wide variety of events and activities.

“Massey Ferguson is already a partner of Harper Adams Students’ Union and we are very pleased to extend our sponsorship to Harper Ireland,” comments Lindsay Haddon, Massey Ferguson Advertising and Sales Promotion Manager. “MF has a strong connection to Ireland through one of founders, the engineer and inventor Harry Ferguson who was born in County Down. Indeed a special talk on Harry Ferguson is scheduled to take place at Harper Adams in April. Encouragement and promotion of our future farmers is an important element in our support for the agricultural community.”

“We’re thrilled that Massey Ferguson has agreed to support us,” says Erinn Ramsay of Harper Ireland. “The brand has a great reputation Ireland and its machinery is widely used on our members’ farms and businesses back home. We’ll all be proud to wear our MF branded clothing at our numerous events.”

Massey Ferguson offers a full-line of products and services including tractors, combine harvesters, balers, Hay & Forage tools and materials handling equipment. The brand is a highly- active supporter of young enterprise in agriculture and is a principal sponsor of CEJA, the European Council of Young Farmers, the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (NFYFC), Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC) and Ulster and Macra YFC.

With a student community of some 4500 and set on a 550 hectare farm, Harper Adams is the leading specialist university tackling the future development of food production, processing, animal sciences, engineering, land management and sustainable business.
